LANDELL
BUENO
DOG TRAINER/ HANDLER
AS DOG A HANDLER, HOW DID YOU PREPARE
FOR THE ECQ?
The pandemic is much more than a health crisis, it's also an
unprecedented socio-economic crisis. Stressing every one of the
countries it touches, it has the potential to create devastating
social, economic and political effects that will leave deep and
longstanding scars.
Every day, people are losing jobs and income, with no way of
knowing when normalicy will return. Small island nations,
heavily dependent on tourism, have empty hotels and deserted
beaches. Will this stop us? Is this the end of the world? Definitely
and absolutely NOT.
Who was prepared for this after all? No one was really prepared
for its onslaught.
A tough and perplexing question. How did I prepare for this as a
handler when the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was
declared?
In all truthfulness, I wasn’t prepared to face this pandemic. And I
categorically believe that none of us was ready for its’ impact. All
plans were cancelled, as were all shows. Personally, my means of
living was at risk, my bread and butter, so to speak, and most
importantly my passion for handling was put on a hold for the
moment.
But what can I do? This situation, this crisis is beyond my control.

It was beyond human control.
