HOW DID YOU PREPARE
AS A DOG OWNER AND EXHIBITOR
FOR THE ECQ?
I wasn’t prepared because I was out of
town but thank goodness my kennel is
stocked up with dog food for months so at
least we got the basic needs down.
HOW DID YOU COPE
WITH THE ECQ?
We (the kennel team) instantly went on
survival mode. Lessened the expenses
and luxuries and prioritized the basic
needs. We used to bathe and groom once
a week. We shifted to once a month and
limited their outdoor play to the
minimum. Once the basics were met I
worried less about our kennel situation
and focused on family, generating income
for the survival of our whole household
which includes our kennel team. It was a
lot to take in all at once so we took it a
day at a time.

HOW DID THE NEW NORMAL AFFECT YOU AS A DOG
OWNER/EXHIBITOR?
Well, you miss the community a lot and just the whole dog
show environment but it also shifted my perspective and in
all honesty, I get to enjoy spending time with my dogs even
more. It’s a different feeling and it took me back to the roots
of being a pet parent first and exhibitor 2nd. Our dogs truly
make our lives better especially in times of uncertainties.
Valuing the simplicity of caring and loving my dogs is what
matters the most, everything else comes 2nd, this is what
I’ve learned from this pandemic.
12 Lots of opportunity for bonding between my
son David and his Corgi.
