prepared with dogfood readily in
stock at home, as I was able to order
from royale canine a week before
the hard lockdown last March 2020.
I had an intuition that something
was going down. It was about a
month and a half worth of dogfood
for all 17 adult dogs. We were good,

or so we thought.
All was well, and nobody really
expected it would last that long. A
month in the lockdown, we knew we
had to do something, human food
was easy, but our dogs, being used
to kibbles, we had found an
alternative since we only had a few
bags left. So we had to properly
ration the kibbles and added boiled
chicken meat and some vegetables
and rice to their meal. We survived
the shortage of dog food, but we
had to adjust, and the dogs had to
adjust. Their daily routine didn't
change much as we were lucky our
village had vast amounts of bare
land where our dogs can continue
about their daily walks, exercise
and such. Our kennel helpers were

helpful. So nothing really changed

except for their food. We had to
adjust financially, which was the
biggest challenge for us, we had to
continue business from home since
we keep spending, but no money
was coming in.
Honestly, my years of collecting
rare plants, and connecting with
people who are in the same
business, helped us financially
through the crisis. My husband’s
construction business was severely
affected, and my families restaurant
was directly affected and had to lay
off employees.
