ore than 50 years ago, in a quiet
area in Casay, Dalaguete in Cebu,
Ma boy was born who was later on
christened as Joselito Rosales. He became
better known as Jojo to his relatives, close
friends and colleagues later on. He grew
up dreaming of becoming a seaman so he
could sail to the four corners of the earth
and improve the lives of his immediate
family. A diligent student, he spent most
of his early years studying in Cebu, until
the time that he had to pursue his BS
Maritime Transportation at the Philippine
Maritime Institute. Though he had to work
to support his college education, he fi nally
got his college degree in 1984, bringing him
even closer to his dream to sail to far away
countries.
Working at odd jobs as a collector and a
counter salesman while waiting for his call
slip to board his fi rst ship, he also found
time to apply for a clerical job with the PCCI
primarily because of his love for dogs and
knowing that with a PCCI job, he would get
the chance to see many kinds of purebred With MKA President Gopi Krishnan
dogs. The General Manager at the
time, Mr. Eduardo Topacio must have
been substantially impressed with
Jojo’s resume’ that he personally
sought out the latter because of the
lack of any contact information except
for the home address, to offer him the
job.
Since his seaman’s post was still up
in the air at the time, Jojo decided
to accept the post of Probationary
Clerk/Typist in February, 1988. It was
not smooth sailing for him and it took
8 months before he got a regular
