PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
This year has been a very strange year for us due to the Covid pandemic. We’ve
cancelled our shows since March and closed our office for a few months. When
we opened our offices last July, we were unfortunately hit by the pandemic and
23 employees were tested positive and we had to close again for three weeks.
Thanks to the measures taken by Dr. Raymundo Lo and the Executive Committee,
we were able to surmount the pandemic and a few weeks after, the office was
Covid free. This is one reason why we decided to close the office from the public
and use the Activity Center in Marikina instead. We feel that due to the big space
and open air in the facility, it is much safer to transact business there. So far, so
good and we continue to make sure that PCCI is a safe environment for all.
I was also in a big dilemma when the pandemic struck. I was in Japan judging
when they decided to do a lockdown in Manila. I had to cut my trip short and
take the soonest flight home. Scrambling from one airport to another in Japan was
a very memorable experience for me last March. I am sure everyone has their own
stories to tell.
I am happy to report that 2020 was a very successful year for the PCCI. We sur-
passed all expectations and had the biggest year for registrations, despite the
pandemic. We do hope everything continues to rise in 2021.
Unfortunately, we have canceled the Philippine Circuit for 2021. We have opted
to organize the show for 13-16 January 2022 wherein we will still have both the
Philippine Circuit and the Asia, Africa and Oceania Section Show on the same
weekend. We are very thankful to the Japan Kennel Club for allowing us to hold
the Section Show for 2021 in 2022, a few months before the 2022 Section Show in
Tokyo.
As I mentioned earlier, the PCCI Activity Center is currently where our members
transact business. We are in the process of building an office there since it is safer
and more accessible to all. Parking is also not a problem and people are not
cramped into a small space. So please do not go to our main office at Hillcrest
Condominium because no one will be entertained.
Augusto Benedicto S. Santos III The Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI)has now required that all Ken-
nel Names be registered with them. Thus, we have decided that a “ph” must be
placed after every kennel name affix to simplify the process. You can view your
registered kennel names at fci.be under kennel names.
It is very unfortunate that our PCCI Dog of the Year ended in March 2020. None-
theless, our present top dog earned so much points at the Philippine Circuit that
it is impossible to reach him even if the year had gone through. No locally-owned
dog has done this well at the circuit! So, congratulations to Nelson Chang and his
dog, Multi Ch. Rock it Argentina Hit the Road Jack. A win well deserved.
Many have asked me when shows will start again this year. Well, we have not pre-
pared for any shows this year until the government allows it. So, once it is allowed,
give us a few months to prepare, we will let you know.
Happy New Year to all. Stay safe.
