PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s the time of the year once again when the
printed issue of the Quarterly comes out. We
hope you’ll like what we have prepared.
The World Dog Show in Shanghai is finally over.
I was tasked to judge Best in Show and, I have
to say, the lineup of ten dogs was up to par, if
not better, than the past World Dog Shows. I
ended up giving Best in Show to a Pembroke
Welsh Corgi from Korea, 2nd was an American
Staffordshire Terrier from Spain, 3rd went to
a Borzoi from Russia and 4th was a Standard
Poodle from Peru. It was definitely an experience
to remember.
The FCI also held its General Assembly
before the World Dog Show and it was an
overwhelming success. We have a new group of
officers who will lead our organization for the
next two years - Tamas Jakkel, President; Gerard
Jipping, Vice-President; Barbara Müller, Secretary.
I am optimistic that we, the General Committee,
will be able to work harmoniously and take the
FCI back to its prestigious moments.
Our Asia Pacific Section is now bigger and
stronger. We have added a few more countries
from Africa and we are now known as the FCI
Asia, Africa, and Oceania Section. Our new
alliance will not only make us stronger but will
also give us a stronger voice within the FCI. I am
also proud to state that our section is strongly
united. I will be attending the Section General
Assembly next week in Seoul and will seek
another term of 4 years as its President. Wish
me luck.
In a few months, we will be hosting our
Philippine Circuit once again. The Circuit is now
an important event in the cynological world.
Here in Asia, it has become a main staple as
the biggest event annually. Save the dates -
16-19 January 2020. Same hotel, same venue.
See you there.
Cheers!
AUGUSTO BENEDICTO S. SANTOS III
