Why did you choose Dachshund as a breed over other pure breeds?
Dachshunds are known for being very smart creatures. Because of their
intelligence, they will need to be almost constantly engaged with regular training
sessions, and play time. Dachshunds are a great fit for people who don’t work
long hours like me.
The independent traits of Dachshunds make them very resourceful without the
need for much instruction. However, their independent minds can sometimes
clash with their owners which will require a lot of patience and understanding.
What would be your first advice to prospective Dachshund owners?
Dachshunds want their way how and when they want it. Very stubborn breed but
when you train them, their personality will kick in - they are whip smart – but it
takes a lot of patience and consistency.
Owners must give them yearly checkups to keep them healthy for years.
The life span of Dachshunds are 16 to 18 yrs.
